Well wats happening to chennai a' holes.... They whistled for heroines ... hey thats nothing new, they do for shreya, nayantara, not a big deal.... yep but the point is this time there is no cleavage show, no bouncing balls, no navel close ups , nor any classes on the curvature, circumference and surface area of the female anatomy.... Still chennai audience appreciated the lead actor performances....
Well its one of the offdays in tamil cinema and that happens to be diwali... I got an opportunity to witness the best movie so far of 2009.... Peranmai
Like most of you ma diwali didn't start well.... no no I am not talking about aadhavan
...SP jaganathan the man behind the movie deserves a special mention.... What a neat screenplay there isn't a scene which is not linked to another....
Peranmai is about our man druvan (Jayam Ravi), introduced as the kaatu raaja who is forest officer hailing from underprevileged society..... and there is bunch of spoilt brats (gals) who come for NCC training under him.... The movie starts with the pathetic situation of the tribal population and how they are illtreated even if they come up in their life..... Druvan hand picks the five girls for a camp inside the forest which was believed to be not inhabited by human.... They realize that they are not alone and its a question of national safety..... Who else is there in the forest? what is that critical situation? How the hero and the gals face the "situation"? Get the answer on the silver screen....
SPJ's screenplay is meticulous.... He has crafted it as if therez a real war situation... and that pays... dialogues are neat short and effective .....
You know Wats C-C, C-M-C, M-C-M .... simplest way to explain poruladhara arasiyal (commercial politics).... Watch out for the dialogues especially when the galz question ravi on y he is not conversing in english.... vadivelu's dialogue when he sees ravi cleaning toilet... his dialogue when Ponvannan thinks ravi has abducted and raped the galz..... Ravi's explaination on nirvaanam..... appreciated fantastic job.....
Visually stunning... camera work was mind blowing.... that interval shot... buoy awsome you can literally feel that u r moving on the terrain.... but the graphics that was bad ... no worst.... It looks like the 1998 3d computer games..... Ayangaran should have spent more..... They did it for Villu y not for this movie....esp when it deserves it.....
Jayam ravi's job is commendable.... He is a man of potential... yes his voice is a let down.... but the way he carried the role simply makes us forget that minus.... It happens to be his thala deepavali and what a way to celebrate it....
Five gals.... I m in two minds.... Girls can be brats but not to this extent as they showed in peranmai thats what I think.... and when ever they try to put ravi in trouble, illtreat him... its irritating... and after a point it was unbearable.... thank god they stopped it after interval much to our relief.....
Ponvannan... Do such cops exists in real? If yes God save India..... He has done his part correctly... however most of his dialogues are muted.... We might think its a spoilt play by censor but comeon there is no other go... they had to take the scissors.....
Well I keep on saying this movie is intelligent.... a gal looses her shoes she gets back one.... ravi and co set the land mines.... these are only few examples.... In peranmai you tend to get the goosebumps so often that u can literally feel ur hair in forearms stand up in attention..... Eg the scene in which the handicapped tribal confronts ponvannan.....
Peranmai has its share of flaws some are hilarious n some irritating......
* Y would somebody select a total jack ass like the one with the long hair and frnch beard for such a critical mission.... He just runs and only runs.... This guys has short term memory loss... keeps forgetting that he has a good machine gun in his hands.....
* How come ravi knows so much about rockets.... yes we did see a user manual for the missile but its not working i m not convinced..... thats not enough
* The gals till interval keep getting into trouble still they don't listen to ravi's instructions.... Galz cannot be so stupid IMO....
* Graphics ..... are you seeing ma middle finger.... this is for the CG team..... The missile launch was stupid....
I feel this movie like the other two from SPJ is gonna make a mark.....
You will love this movie if its your first movie for this diwali......
and If you had watched adhavan already you will want peranmai to be sent to oscars.... nay just kidding......
Its 100 W power I say..... be careful...... Hope the kaatu raaja chronicles continues........
BTB I really wanted to mention the technicians names... but the albert theater a' holes stopped the movie when the credit was still rolling... Damn.............
